helenDr. Helen Roche is Assistant Professor in Modern European Cultural History at Durham University. She works primarily on modern German history.

Her first book, Sparta’s German Children, which looked at the idealisation of ancient Sparta in German military education during the 19th and 20th centuries, was published in 2013.

Her next book, The Third Reich’s Elite Schools: A History of the Napolas, is forthcoming with Oxford University Press.
